The Millard Fillmore Scholarship

The Millard Fillmore Scholarship proudly acknowledges students who enthusiastically chase their interests, regardless of skill level. Millard Fillmore was the 13th president of the United States who is widely recognized as being unrecognized. While not notable for much, he was a dedicated politician through his lifetime. In line with Fillmore's legacy, this scholarship aims celebrates those who value the path of learning and development, viewing mediocrity as an essential part of their pursuit of passion.​

The Millard Fillmore Scholarship is a $500 dollar scholarship awarded to one undergraduate student completing a 2-year or 4-year degree program or rising high school senior with the intent of completing a 2-year or 4-year degree program. The award can be used for tuition, books, or school related expenses. It will be distributed in full to the award recipient through their university or program in the Fall semester. If the student is beginning their program in the Spring semester, it will be distributed in that semester. The scholarship must be used in the academic year it has been awarded.

Minimum Qualifications​

  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.0 or higher

  • Submit the application prior to the deadline

  • Know who Millard Fillmore is

How to Apply

Fill out the Application

The application will ask you for various biographical information (name, contact information, the university you attend (or hope to attend for a high school senior applying, GPA, etc.). This will be completed using the application link on our website. Any information provided will be secure and only used for the purposes of your scholarship application. It will not be shared outside of this process.

Complete the Essay Prompt

Prepare a 250 to 1000 word essay answering the prompt:

"What is something you are passionate about doing, but not necessarily the best at?"

This is an opportunity to brag about something you love to do, but typically would not put in a college application or a "regular" scholarship application for one reason or another. Brag about your subpar chess skills but your love of the game or how much you love to do ballet but trip over your shoe laces at every possible chance you get! Now's your chance to humble brag your own mediocrity. This will be submitted within the application.

Submit your most recent Transcript

This can be an unofficial transcript from your most recent completed semester/trimester/year of schooling. The minimum GPA for the scholarship is a 2.0. This will be submitted within the application.
